What makes a chatbot intelligent?

An Intelligent bot reads the text entered by a human with the goal of understanding the intention and answering accordingly.

We call our chatbots University qualified at birth, so it comes pre – programmed with loads of smarts – as the bot is trained it will learn more and become more capable of understanding user inquiries.


How does it use AI?

Behind the bot is a “brain” purpose build to provide its smarts to the bot – this is a 3rd party platform usually, currently we use Google’s Dialogflow.


Is there a human behind it?

Yes of course, humans are there for 3 main reasons:

  1. Training – monitoring the chat to ensure the bot stays on track to respond with the correct terms that resolve the task. If the bot is unsure what has been said therefore how to answer we pass the chat over for human intervention
  2. For hand off when the consumer moves to a more complex stage
  3. When the consumer asks for one

Creating the Bot takes no time at all we can have the basics in place in 2 business days – the training takes the most time.


How are they trained?

We use a mixture of tools, mainly we load dictionaries specific to a topic then we challenge the Bot by asking loads of questions and train till that 95% mark.
